Children and Young People

Sunday mornings are our main Sunday service when we enjoy lively worship, and children are able to meet in various Junior church groups (except for the All Age Service on the 3rd Sunday in the month when we all stay in church together).

The usual format is:

  • 1st Sunday - Holy Communion: Children start in their groups and join at about 11.30am
  • 2nd Sunday - Morning Service: Children in for the first 20 minutes then into their groups
  • 3rd Sunday - All Age Service: Everyone stays in church together
  • 4th Sunday - as 2nd Sunday
  • 5th Sunday - as 2nd Sunday

The Junior church groups for children and young people are organised by age:

Sunday-morning groups

  • Babies and Toddlers: there is a dedicated space available at the back of church
  • Scramblers and Climbers: 3 - 7 years old
  • Explorers: Key Stage 2, 7 - 11 years old
  • Pathfinders: Key Stage 3, 11 - 14 years old
  • Apprentices: Key Stages 4 & 5, 14 - 18 years old

These groups meet on a Sunday morning during church time (usually spending the first 15 minutes in church, or joining at communion).

In these groups we aim to teach and explore Christian faith based on Bible exploration, activities and discussion.

Our aim is that children and young people will have a personal faith in Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and will experience the life-changing work of the Holy Spirit. We encourage them to explore and to question and to develop their own gifting and prayer and to share the Good News of Christ with others.

We aim that, within these groups, they will develop supportive Christian friendships in a safe and encouraging environment, where they can express their questions and discuss the challenges they face, as well as grow in faith.

The groups are led by a team of highly committed volunteers (and one paid youth worker) who form the ‘Junior Church & Youth Leadership team’.
